Wintering Well with Suzy Reading

7th November 2026

Winter doesn't have to be something you endure.

This November, Rocpool Reserve invites you to spend a night in the Scottish Highlands with Suzy Reading, chartered psychologist, yoga teacher and author of Self-Care for Winter, for an immersive one-night residency designed to help you find nourishment, movement and joy in the coldest months of the year.

Rooted in Suzy's seven-step framework and set against the extraordinary backdrop of the Highland winter, the residency moves from workshop to walk to table to yoga mat - a considered arc that leaves you rested, reset and genuinely equipped for the season ahead.

This is not a detox. It's not a challenge. It's a weekend of being well looked after, by Suzy, by Rocpool Reserve, and by the Highland winter itself.

Residential Package, All rooms. One Rate.

£350 Single Occupancy Room

£450 Double Occupancy Room

Event only at £125 per person including: light lunch, workshop and dinner.

What to expect:

Light Lunch on Arrival at 1pm

An afternoon workshop with Suzy exploring why winter depletes us, and the science-backed steps that help us thrive.

A candlelit dinner of nourishing Highland ingredients, shared at a long table with fellow guests.

A morning walk through the Highland landscape, led by Suzy with moments of reflection and breathwork woven through.

A closing gentle yoga and movement session to warm and ground you before you head home.

All set within one of Scotland's most beautiful boutique hotels, with Rocpool's kitchen team on hand throughout.

Still Burning: An Evening with Kate Foster

21st November 2026

In 1724, a fishwife named Maggie Dickson was hanged in Edinburgh, and walked home afterwards. Her story is the heart of The Mourning Necklace, the latest novel from Scottish crime writer Kate Foster. And it is the starting point for one of the most distinctive evenings Rocpool Reserve has ever hosted.

Residential Package, All rooms. One Rate.

£325 Single Occupancy Room

£400 Double Occupancy Room

Event only at £125 per person

This is not a book event. It's a night, and a morning, in the company of a writer who understands that the past is never finished with us.

What to expect:

Join us for a dinner inspired by the women history tried to silence, and the writer who refused to let them stay quiet.

The evening begins with a gin cocktail in the bar, a nod to the tavern world Maggie Dickson navigated. Dinner follows: a menu drawn from 18th-century Scottish life, reimagined through Rocpool's kitchen — smoked fish, game broth, dark bread, bitter winter greens. Kate moves between tables throughout the evening, in conversation with guests rather than performing to a room. The night ends with a short, intimate Q&A: Kate on the book, on Maggie, on why the women history forgot still matter so much.

The following morning, those who wish to join us will walk through Inverness with Kate, past the sites of Highland witch trials, through streets where women were accused, tried and condemned, and end at Leakey's, one of Scotland's most beloved bookshops, housed in a former Gaelic church. Each guest leaves with a curated reading list, a signed bookplate and a book of their choosing.
