ALBERT ROUX TO OPEN IN INVERNESS - Legendary Chef to Take Over Kitchens at Rocpool Reserve
Albert Roux OBE and Maître Cuisinier de France is to open his first restaurant in Scotland.
The multi-award winning chef, often cited as the most influential of his profession, has announced his plans to take-over the kitchens of Rocpool Reserve, Inverness. His restaurant, Chez Roux, will open on 1 April 2009.
The announcement comes seven months after the five-star Rocpool Reserve was bought by the owners of Inverlochy Castle. Speaking as he hosted a gourmet introductory weekend at Rocpool Reserve, Mr Roux said: "When I was first invited to Rocpool Reserve I was astounded by the hotel's elegance and style, which I think is unrivalled outside London.
"Inverness is also a city which, despite its small size, has an exciting restaurant scene, and a great culture for dining out.
"We're not revealing the details yet, but Chez Roux will bring something completely new and unique to the city."
Kerry Watson, General Manager of Rocpool Reserve, said: "We're delighted to announce Chef Roux's arrival in Scotland. He is undoubtedly among the very top names in the worldwide restaurant scene and having him here, bringing his wealth of experience to the restaurant at Rocpool Reserve, is a real coup.
"Over the next few months Chef Roux is working with our existing team to introduce a new menu and the Roux signature style to his restaurant."

The "C" Word
A total of £9000 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care on Sunday 17th June at Rocpool Reserve. Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club manager Charlie Christie went head to head with our executive chef Davey Aspin. Each had produced their own menu for the day and were ready to be judged by the diners. Each table were given a taste of each menu and asked to vote at the end of each course which menu choice had won that round.The starter went to Davey , the main course to Charlie and the dessert was a draw ! Thank you to everyone who attended the event and the auction bids that followed.

NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF
Dave Aspin joins the team in Reserve restaurant as executive chef. Dave has worked in a variety of 2 & 3 Michelin starred restaurants and has himself gained a Michelin star twice and is one of the yougest chefs in the UK to do so. He will be introducing his own creativity and skills on to the menu.
